SRINAGAR — Several persons in Srinagar are complaining of receiving COVID-19 vaccination certificates without getting even a single dose.
A couple from Brein Nishat who had registered themselves on the Government of India’s CoWIN website for vaccination is one among the several people who have received COVID-19 vaccination certificates without getting even a single dose of the vaccine at any health centre.
“After registering ourselves online at the CoWIN portal, we went to inoculation at Primary Health Centre Brein but before getting vaccinated, we received an SMS saying we have already been vaccinated and we can download the certificate,” said a man who wanted to be identified by his surname, Khan, only.
Another man from Bemina also claimed that vaccination certificates are being generated without people getting a single dose of the vaccine.
CoWIN helpline number 1075 could not be connected for a comment despite repeated attempts.
Pertinently, such incidents have been reported earlier as well in different parts of India. The CoWIN portal had recently become a matter of jokes and memes on social media when it crashed.
Officials had said that the portal had crashed due to the surge in the number of people registering.
A health official claimed that there is no room for such errors but said that such things may happen at times due to the faulty approach of the operators. (KNT)
