SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department on Saturday forecast ‘scattered’ and ‘fairly widespread’ rains from May 4 to May 7 and has issued ‘yellow warning’ for isolated lightning and thundershowers with gusty winds in Jammu and Kashmir.
Till May 3, isolated light rain and thundershowers in Kashmir and Pirpanjal range of Jammu division towards late afternoon have been predicted.
“There is possibility of scattered rain on May 4, fairly widespread rain on May 5 and 6 and scattered rain on May 7,” a MeT official said about the forecast for one week.
The weather department has also issued ‘yellow warning’ for ‘isolated lightning/thundershowers with gusty wind 30- 40-kmph’ for both Jammu and Kashmir divisions from May 1 to 5.
There are four types of colour codes signifying the level of caution: green which means no action, yellow — situation to be watched, amber — government agencies need to be prepared for severe weather and red — action needed by the agencies. (GNS)
