SRINAGAR — World famous tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam received light rains even as mercury hovered above normal in most parts of Kashmir Valley.
An official from meteorological department said that Srinagar recorded a low of 11.4°C against 11.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 2.1°C above normal for this time of the season in the capital.
Qazigund recorded a low of 8.2°C against previous night’s 8.6°C and it was above normal by 0.4°C in the area.
Mercury settled at 4.2°C against 5.7°C on the previous night in Pahalgam. The temperature was below normal by 0.2°C during this time of the season in the resort. It also received 0.3mm of rain during the last 24 hours.
Kokernag recorded a low of 8.3°C against normal of 8.1°C and last night’s 8.2°C.
Kupwara recorded a low of 8.0°C against 8.6°C on the previous night which was above normal by 0.2°C for this time of the season in the district.
Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, recorded a low of 6.0°C against 6.4°C on the previous night. It was 1.8°C above normal in the resort while it received 0.2mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
The weatherman has forecast very light rain or thunderstorm in Jammu and Kashmir till May 4 and scattered rain on May 5 and 6.(GNS)
