SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department has forecast light rains and thundershowers in Kashmir and Pirpanjal range around afternoon in the next few days.
“While mainly dry weather is expected, there is possibility of isolated very light rain/thundershowers in Kashmir and Pirpanjal range towards late afternoon,” an official from meteorological department said.
He said that Srinagar recorded a low of 10.2°C against 9.0°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.9°C above normal for this time of the season in the capital.
Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 7.7°C against previous night’s 6.6 which was below normal by 0.1°C.
Mercury settled at 4.9°C against 4.0°C on the previous night in Pahalgam. The temperature was above normal by 0.5°C during this time of the season in the resort.
Kokernag recorded a low of 7.6°C against normal of 7.2°C and last night’s 7.2°C.
Kupwara recorded a low of 5.5°C against 5.1°C on the previous night which is below normal by 2.3°C for this time of the season in the district.
Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.0°C against 4.0°C on the previous night, the official said, adding that it was 0.8°C below normal in the resort. (GNS)
