SRINAGAR — Two more militants including a 14-year-old have been killed in the gunfight between government forces and militants in orchards of Chitragam Kalan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district, taking the toll of killed militants to three.
Quoting a police official, KDC reported that three unidentified militants have been killed and identification is being ascertained.
He said that the militants turned down repeated surrender offers given to them by forces.
“Despite hectic efforts of security forces and family members, Faisal, the 14-year-old militant, rejected surrender offers,” a top official told KDC.
On Saturday evening, a joint team of police, army’s 34 RR and CRPF had launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight.
Meanwhile, internet services continue to remain suspended in parts of south Kashmir. (KDC)
