ANANTNAG — Police on Wednesday said that a huge consignment of drugs was recovered from a hideout in Bijbehara town of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district and arrested two peddlers.
Quoting an unnamed police official, KNT reported that a police party at a checkpoint established at Tulkhon crossing apprehended two guys namely, Lateef Ahmad Shah and Azad Ahmed Shah, both residents of Nambal with 15 Codeine bottles.
During questioning, they disclosed that they bought the bottles from one Ghulam Hasan Dar at Tulkhon village after which a sub division team rushed to the location and searched thoroughly the entire place and in the kitchen garden unearthed 1500 bottles of codeine. The stock was dumped in a pit around 7 feet deep.
“Whole team worked hard to unearth this. A case under relevant sections has been registered and further investigation is underway,” the official said. (KNT)
