SRINAGAR — A police cop and a civilian were killed after suspected militants attacked a meeting of municipal councillors in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday afternoon.
Quoting unnamed sources, KDC reported that suspected militants attacked the councilors of Municipal Committe Sopore after firing at them indiscriminately near the meeting hall of Lone Building located in Sopore.
Sources said that in the incident, a Personal Security Officer (PSO) of one of the councilors, identified as Mushtaq Ahmad, and one councillor, identified as Irshad Riyaz Ahmad, were killed in the attack.
Sources said that several others have been injured in the attack who have been rushed to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, government forces have sealed the whole area and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers. (KDC)
