SRINAGAR — A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper who was injured in an attack by militants in Lawaypora area of Srinagar last week succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Srinagar on Monday, officials said. This has taken the number of the paramilitary men killed in the attack to three.
Constable Jaganath Rai of 73 battalion succumbed to his injuries at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, the officials told GNS.13
Two CRPF personnel — a sub-Inspector and a constable (driver) of CRPF’s 73 battalion — were killed and as many others were injured, one of them grievously, in a broad daylight attack at around 3:45 pm on last Thursday. The attacking militants had also snatched an AK-47 rifle from the CRPF personnel.
Police has said that the attack was carried out by militants affiliated with Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and claimed the arrest of two overground workers (OGWs) in connection with the incident. (GNS)
