ANANTNAG — Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla (IAS), on Friday asked all the officers in the district to hoist the Indian national flag on all the government offices/buildings within 15 days.
He asked the district heads of all the departments to submit information in this regard on daily basis.
A circular issued by the district magistrate reads that the Indian National Flag represents the hopes and aspirations of the people of India. “It is the symbol of our national pride. There is universal affection and respect for, and loyalty to the National Flag.”
The Government of India, to bring awareness amongst the people and also in the organizations and agencies of the government, in regard to laws, practices and conventions that apply to the display of the National Flag, has defined a Flag Code of India, 2002, it further adds.
The circular reads that for the sake of convenience, the Flag Code of India, 2002, has been divided into three parts, Part I of the Code contains a general description of the National Flag, Part Il of the Code is devoted to the display of the National Flag by the members of public, private organizations, education institutions etc. and Part III of the Code relates to display of the National Flag by Central and State Governments and their organizations and agencies.
“Accordingly, in pursuance of the part Ill of the Code, it is impressed upon all District/Sectoral Heads/Tehsil/Block level officers to ensure that National Flag is flown on all Government offices/buildings across the district within 15 days positively,” it further adds.
It reads that the district heads shall submit the information daily as per the format given along the total number of official buildings in the district and the number of national flags hoisted as on age and percentage.
