Srinagar: Two days after the conclusion of a gunfight in which two militants were killed and six residential houses destroyed, government forces on Wednesday launched a fresh cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) at Rawalpora village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Quoting unnamed official sources, GNS reported that on receipt of specific inputs, a team of Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles launched searches in the afternoon at Pahelnara mohalla of Rawalpora village.
All exit points were sealed and house-to-house searches were launched, they said.
Pertinently, two local militants – Jaish-e-Mohammed Commander Wilayat Lone alias Sajad Afghani and Jehangeer Ahmad Wani of Lashkar-e-Toiba – were killed in a gunfight in the locality. The encounter that lasted for 3 days concluded on Monday. (GNS)
