Budgam: After failing to clear the Secondary School Examination (Class 10), a 15-year-old girl student from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district attempted to end her life by consuming some poisonous substance on Friday.
The girl student (name withheld), daughter of Muhammad Akbar Dar, is a resident of Buzgoo village in Chadoora of Budgam district. Sources said that on finding out that she has failed to pass the examination, she tried to end her life.
The family members immediately took her to Sub-District Hospital Chadoora where doctors referred her to SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
Hospital sources said that she is undergoing treatment and her condition is stable.
Pertinently, 18,626 students could not clear the examinations this year.
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Friday morning declared the Class 10 annual regular results for the Kashmir division.
As per information from the Board, out of the total 75,132 students who appeared in the board exams, 76.09 per cent of girls have passed the exams while for boys the percentage is 74.04.
Of the total students, 9,441 passed in grade A, 11,347 in A2 and 11,050 in B1 grade. However, 18,626 could not clear the examinations.
Various students have secured 100 per cent marks in this examination. Some of those students are Tabasum Gulzar, who belongs to Watalbagh area of Ganderbal, and Saqib Bhat, a resident of Handew Shopian. (KNT)
