Budgam: Joint government forces on Saturday launched a cordon-and-search-operation in a Budgam village in Central Kashmir.
Local sources said that troopers from 53 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir laid a siege around Pethpora Mirpora village of Budgam and conducted a search operation.
Locals told KNT that forces conducted a door-to-door search operation and checked identity cards of locals.
Mirpora village falls in the sub-division Beerwah. On Friday, a cop was killed while another sustained injuries after a brief gunfight between militants and government forces in the nearby Peth Zanigam area. Militants had, however, managed to escape from the spot. (KNT)
