Srinagar: A newly recruited militant was arrested during a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Thursday, officials said.
They said based on specific information about the presence of militants, a joint CASO was launched by police and Army’s 55 RR at Main Town Pulwama.
During the search, a police officer told GNS, one youth identified as Wilayat Aziz Mir alias Rasik, son of Abdul Aziz Mir, a resident of Banpora Kakapora, was arrested along with a pistol and a grenade.
Wilayat, they said, was missing since January 15 and had joined the militant ranks. (GNS)
