Bandipora: National Conference (NC) leader and sitting Member of Parliament Akbar Lone’s son was arrested by Bandipora Police on Tuesday under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for delivering ‘hate speech’ in a public rally during the recent District Development Council (DDC) elections.
Hilal Akbar Lone was arrested from MLA Hostel in Srinagar and subsequently detained at Police Station Hajin on Monday after he was booked by police.
Quoting an unnamed police official, KDC reported that the junior Lone was booked under FIR number 02/2021 under sections 13 UA(P) Act, 188, 505 of IPC registered in Police Station Hajin.
The police official said that Hilal was booked for delivering ‘hate speech’ during a DDC election rally last year, adding that he has been formally arrested by police in this regard.
Hilal will be produced before a court for judicial remand today, he added.
Earlier, Hilal was detained and shifted by police to MLA hostel on December 25 last year. (KDC)
