Srinagar: The elderly ‘intruder’ who was killed overnight by government forces along the Line of Control (LoC) has been identified as Sarfaraz Mir, a resident of Kamalkote area of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, GNS reported.
Quoting an unnamed senior police officer, GNS reported that the man (56) was killed along the LoC near Dulanja Uri. As per preliminary reports, the slain has been identified as Sarfaraz Mir of Kundibarjala Kamalkote.
Born in the 1960s, the man had crossed the LoC in early 1990s and then returned in 1992, the police officer said.
“He had then surrendered in 1995 and went back to Pakistan in 2005.”
“Also, an ID card issued by authorities in Muzaffarabad along with a weapon has been recovered,” the police officer said, adding that further details regarding the incident are awaited. (GNS)
