Kulgam: At a time when coaching centres have allegedly turned into commercial centres to maximize profits in the name of education, one centre in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district “crossed limits” when it allegedly forced students to take off their shoes and stand bare feet on the frozen snow.
The institution in question, A1 Coaching Centre, located at Pohlu Kulgam, reportedly did this humiliating act to exact fee from the students.
Quoting a couple of unnamed parents, KNT reported that they were shocked over the incident and filed a complaint at Police Station Devsar. “We can’t believe that any coaching centre can stoop so low to force students to stand bare feet on snow in this bone-chilling cold, merely for not paying the fee,” they said.
Police took cognizance of the matter while management of the coaching institute has tendered unconditional apology and gave in writing that such incidents on their part won’t be repeated in future.
But the locals have maintained that mere apology is not enough and the owners of the coaching centres should be booked.
When contacted, one of the owners from A1 Coaching Centre first feigned ignorance about the incident and later refuted the allegations. However, the incident captured on camera tells it all. (KNT)
