Srinagar: The government of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday decided to ban import of poultry into the Union Territory in view of spread of bird flu in different states of India.
An order issued by government reads, “In the wake of spread of bird flu in neighbouring states of UT of J&K as a measure of abundant precaution and in view of declaration of whole J&K as “Controlled Area” for bird flu disease. In exercise of powers conferred under section 10 of the Prevention and Control of infectious and contagious Diseases Act, 2009, Government of UT J&K imposes complete ban on import of live birds including poultry and unprocessed poultry meat for any purpose into the Union Territory of J&K with immediate effect, till 14-01-2021.”
“The decision will be reviewed based on the evolving situation,” the order further added. (KNO)
