Srinagar: Markets in Srinagar observed a spontaneous shutdown on Friday against the Lawaypora encounter where, as per claims by Army, three militants were killed.

The families of the slain trio have, however, alleged that their children were students and not militants.

Parts of Lal Chowk in the city centre including Residency Road, Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar) and Maisuma are observing a shutdown together with parts of the Downtown area.

Pertinently, there was no call for shutdown by any group or traders.

Public traffic is, however, plying as usual on roads across Srinagar.

Meanwhile, a shutdown is also being observed in Pulwama and Shopian — the native districts of three slain youth. (KNO)
