Srinagar: Many students who had appeared in the recently held BSc Nursing entrance test conducted by Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura staged a protest on Monday in Press Enclave Srinagar, alleging fraud in the selection process.
The protesting students alleged that most of the students who were selected by SKIMS scored 100 per cent marks while as the same students had appeared for entrance exams for the same course through the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) where they have not even scored 40 per cent.
Carrying placards like “We Want Justice” and “SKIMS Exposed”, the protesting students alleged that the SKIMS administration had sold the papers before the exams.
“We had taken the exams of BSc Nursing which was conducted by SKIMS Soura but to our shock, the papers were sold and leaked before the exams,” one of the protesting students said. “How is it possible that students who score 100 per cent marks appear in a similar exam conducted by BOPEE and not even able to score 50 per cent?”
Another protesting student alleged that the selection of the candidates was not done on merit basis. “The fact is papers were sold on high rates. Those who have topped in the exams of SKIMS have not scored even 50 per cent in BOPEE entrance,” he said.
The protesting students demanded a thorough investigation into the matter so that justice can be delivered and deserving students get their right. (KNT)
