Gunfight breaks out in Baramulla village, two militants likely trapped

Srinagar: Few gunshots were heard after government forces launched a massive cordon-and-search-operation in Wanigam Payeen area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday morning, GNS reported.

Official sources told the news agency that a joint team of police, army and CRPF has encircled a suspected spot where two militants are believed to be trapped.

They further said that some speculative shots were also fired towards the suspected spot
However, there was no response from militants as of now.

However, police has now said that a gunfight has started.

“Encounter has started at Wanigam Payeen Kreeri area of Baramulla. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” police said in a tweet.
