The eighth and the last phase of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections that began on Saturday morning recorded a voter percentage of 40.91% across different constituencies spread over all but two (Srinagar and Ganderbal) districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 1 pm.
According to the figures provided by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, up to 1 pm, Pulwama has recorded a voting percentage of 10.17%, Baramulla 39.36%, Kulgam 8.47%, Shopian 6.42%, Anantnag 7.58%, Bandipora 49.07%, Kupwara 53.61% and Budgam 29.78%.
In Jammu division, Kishtwar has recorded a voting percentage of 58.43%, Udhampur 44.48%, Jammu 58.48%, Kathua 59.21%, Ramban 63.48%, Doda 61.08%, Samba 64.56%, Poonch 70.09%, Rajouri 68.57% and Reasi 67.23% up to 1 pm.
Kashmir division recorded a polling percentage of 25.90% and Jammu division 56.40%. Overall, 40.91% of voters cast their votes up to 1 pm.
Polling was held from 7 am to 2 pm.
Out of the total 280 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir (14 in each of the 20 districts), 28 went to polls in the eighth and last phase – 13 in Kashmir and 15 in Jammu division.
1703 polling stations were set up with 1028 in Kashmir division and 675 in Jammu division.
