The eighth and the last phase of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections on Saturday concluded with a voter percentage of 50.98% across different constituencies spread over all but two (Srinagar and Ganderbal) districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the figures provided by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, Pulwama recorded a voting percentage of 8.50%, Baramulla 44.60%, Kulgam 11.20%, Shopian 8.58%, Anantnag 8.66%, Bandipora 56.56%, Kupwara 63.80% and Budgam 35.12%.
In Jammu division, Kishtwar recorded a voting percentage of 73.45%, Udhampur 60.49%, Jammu 69.39%, Kathua 73.93%, Ramban 73.42%, Doda 70.33%, Samba 73.65%, Poonch 83.58%, Rajouri 77.31% and Reasi 81.92%.
Kashmir division recorded a polling percentage of 29.91% and Jammu division 72.71%. Overall, 50.98% of voters cast their votes.
Polling was held from 7 am to 2 pm.
Out of the total 280 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir (14 in each of the 20 districts), 28 went to polls in the eighth and last phase – 13 in Kashmir and 15 in Jammu division.
1703 polling stations were set up with 1028 in Kashmir division and 675 in Jammu division.
