The eighth and last phase of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections that began on Saturday morning recorded a voter percentage of 26.07% across different constituencies spread over all but two (Srinagar and Ganderbal) districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 11 am.
According to the figures provided by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, up to 11 am, Pulwama has recorded a voting percentage of 4.35%, Baramulla 25.56%, Kulgam 4.66%, Shopian 3.79%, Anantnag 4.63%, Bandipora 30.77%, Kupwara 33.43% and Budgam 19.10%.
In Jammu division, Kishtwar has recorded a voting percentage of 34.15%, Udhampur 24.56%, Jammu 36.64%, Kathua 34.45%, Ramban 36.14%, Doda 34.02%, Samba 42.01%, Poonch 43.88%, Rajouri 40.68% and Reasi 41.87% up to 11 am.
Kashmir division recorded a polling percentage of 16.08% and Jammu division 36.37%. Overall, 26.07% of voters have cast their votes up to 11 am.
Polling is being held from 7 am to 2 pm.
Out of the total 280 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir (14 in each of the 20 districts), 28 are going to polls in the eighth and last phase – 13 in Kashmir and 15 in Jammu division.
1703 polling stations have been set up with 1028 in Kashmir division and 675 in Jammu division.
