Mother’s death, father’s detention leave 3 minor sisters to God’s mercy in a tin shed

Mother’s death, father’s detention leave 3 minor sisters to God’s mercy in a tin shed

Ganderbal: Life has fallen apart for three teenagers in Ganderbal who lost their mother a month ago, while their father is languishing in jail for the last two years.

In absence of parents and guardians, the minor girls are going through very tough times as there is no one to take care of them.

Longing for paternal love, it is 14-year-old Rohina, the eldest among the three, who is looking after her two sisters — Muskaan, 9, and Zoya, 8.

Living in a tin shed in Banjar Basti area of Ganderbal, the three minors have no source of income to feed themselves.

While their father, Bashir Ahmad Khan, was — and continues to be — in jail for a crime which his daughters believe he has not committed, the only support for them was their mother who used to work as a domestic servant. However, a month back after her death, the kids are left on God’s mercy.

Locals told KNO to free their father, the family sold their house to pay the lawyer’s fee.

“One can’t imagine how these minor girls are living without parents particularly during these harsh winters,” they said. “Government should take cognisance of their suffering and release their father on humanitarian grounds.” (KNO)
