Unknown gunmen shot at civilian in Pulwama

Srinagar: The Personal Security Officer (PSO) of a PDP leader, who was shot at by unknown gunmen on Monday morning, succumbed to his injuries in a Srinagar hospital.

A senior police officer told GNS that militants fired upon the PSO of PDP leader Haji Parvaiz Ahmad in Natipora area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district, leaving him critically injured.

Identified as Manzoor Ahmad, Belt number 328, a selection grade constable, he had received gunshot wounds in his belly and was shifted to a hospital in Srinagar where he succumbed later.

Reports suggest Manzoor had gone to the nearby market to buy milk and he was shot at near the entry gate of PDP leader Parvaiz.

Talking to KNO, Parvaiz said that this is the second attack on him since 2009. “My security cover was trimmed to a large extent even though I constantly face threats,” he said.” I don’t know why they are doing it. I have been repeatedly demanding security cover and instead they are cutting it down. I don’t know why they (BJP) are so afraid of PDP,” he said.

Meanwhile, a massive manhunt has been launched by police and paramilitary forces in Natipora area to nab the attackers.
