DDC polls Phase-VI: 8.79% votes polled till 9 am, dull start in south Kashmir

The sixth phase of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections that began on Sunday morning recorded a voter percentage of 8.79% across different constituencies spread over all but two (Srinagar and Kishtwar) districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 9 am.

According to the figures provided by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, up to 9 am, Pulwama has recorded a voting percentage of 1.81%, Baramulla 3.10%, Kulgam 4.09%, Shopian 0.51%, Anantnag 2.40%, Bandipora 9.53%, Ganderbal 5.39%, Kupwara 5.52% and Budgam 6.40%.

In Jammu division, Udhampur has recorded a voting percentage of 11.54%, Jammu 15.08%, Kathua 12.55%, Ramban 8.63%, Doda 9.19%, Samba 16.38%, Poonch 14.56%, Rajouri 11.25% and Reasi 14.57% up to 9 am.

Kashmir division recorded a polling percentage of 4.17% and Jammu division 12.73%. Overall, 8.79% of voters have cast their votes up to 9 am.

Polling is being held from 7 am to 2 pm.

Out of the total 280 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir (14 in each of the 20 districts), 31 are going to polls in the sixth phase – 14 in Kashmir and 17 in Jammu division.
