Govt modifies order, makes online classes during winter vacations voluntary

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department on Friday modified its order regarding online classes during the forthcoming winter vacations, making them voluntary for both for teachers and students.

An addendum was issued by the Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, B K Singh, to an order issued earlier in the day in which winter tutorials for class 11th and 12th and online classes for all classes were directed to be held during the forthcoming winter.

“The following words shall be deemed to have been added at the end of [the] first para of Government Order No. 277-Edu of 2020 dated 11.12.2020 issued under endorsement No. Edu/Gen/25/97-I (part-file) dated 11.12.2020: “That online classes will be voluntary in nature for both teachers and students”,” reads the new order.

The earlier order was issued along with the announcement of winter vacations in all the government educational institutions including recognized private schools up to higher secondary level in Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division.

According to the order, the vacations shall be observed from December 21, 2020, to February 28, 2021.
