The fifth phase of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections that began on Thursday morning recorded a voter percentage of 26.54% across different constituencies spread over all but one (Srinagar) districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 11 am.
According to the figures provided by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, up to 11 am, Kupwara recorded a voting percentage of 19.74%, Bandipora 32.22%, Baramulla 23.31%, Ganderbal 17.21%, Budgam 25.42%, Pulwama 4.83%, Shopian 1.98%, Kulgam 15.19% and Anantnag 9.88%.
In Jammu division, Kishtwar recorded a voting percentage of 35.21%, Doda 35.23%, Ramban 34.95%, Reasi 33.56%, Kathua 33.72%, Samba 40.41%, Jammu 33.64%, Udhampur 27.13%, Rajouri 44.54% and Poonch 36.23% up to 11 am.
Kashmir division recorded a polling percentage of 16.22% and Jammu division has 35.59% voter turnout. Overall, 26.54% of voters have cast their votes up to 11 am.
Polling is being held from 7 am to 2 pm.
Out of the total 280 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir (14 in each of the 20 districts), 37 are going to polls in the fifth phase – 17 in Kashmir and 20 in Jammu divisions.
