Pulwama: Unknown persons chopped down apple saplings of a person who is contesting the ongoing District Development Council (DDC) elections in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The incident occurred at Karimabad village of the district. The saplings belonged to DDC candidate Ashiq Ahmed Bhat, a resident of the same village.
Sources told KNT that during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, at least 40 newly planted apple saplings belonging to Bhat were cut down by miscreants in Karimabad orchards.
Ashiq Bhat had contested the third phase of DDC elections from Pulwama ‘B’ Constituency as an independent candidate.
Neither Bhat nor police could be contacted by KNT for a comment. However, one of his relatives confirmed the incident. KNT
