The fourth phase of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections that began on Monday morning recorded a voter percentage of 41.94% across different constituencies spread over all but one (Srinagar) districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 1 pm.
Three of the four South Kashmir districts witnessed low polling, with the voting percentage in Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam staying in single-digits when one hour was left.
Polling is being held from 7 am to 2 pm.
According to the figures provided by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, up to 1 pm, Kupwara has recorded a voting percentage of 28.77%, Bandipora 44.82%, Baramulla 37.40%, Ganderbal 43.45%, Budgam 36.36%, Pulwama 5.66%, Shopian 1.76%, Kulgam 6.59% and Anantnag 23.63%.
In Jammu division, Kishtwar has recorded a voting percentage of 59.29%, Doda 67.86%, Ramban 61.50%, Reasi 49.30%, Kathua 54.23%, Samba 59.64%, Jammu 62.71%, Udhampur 48.24%, Rajouri 65.49% and Poonch 59.15% up to 1 pm.
Kashmir division recorded a polling percentage of 25.54% and Jammu division has 59.38% voter turnout. Overall, 41.94% of voters have cast their votes up to 1 pm.
Out of the total 280 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir (14 in each of the 20 districts), 34 are going to polls in the third phase – 17 each in Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
