DDC polls Phase-IV: 26.02% turnout till 11 am, just 100 votes in Shopian

DDC polls Phase-III: 8.33% polling till 9 am; Anantnag carefree; Kulgam racing against time

The fourth phase of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections that began on Monday morning recorded a voter percentage of 26.02% across different constituencies spread over all but one (Srinagar) districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 11 am.

South Kashmir districts showed a dull start in polling. In Shopian, 100 people voted out of the total 8079 eligible voters till 11 am.

During the same time, in Kulgam, 1,297 votes were polled out of the total 36,207 that were scheduled to be cast today.

Similarly, 2,325 out of a total of 61,269 votes were polled in Pulwama during the same time.

However, voting in Anantnag picked up after a dull start. 8,678 out of the total 53,318 scheduled votes were polled till 11 am.

According to the figures provided by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, up to 11 am, Kupwara has recorded a voting percentage of 14.80%, Bandipora 27.49%, Baramulla 21.12%, Ganderbal 25.15%, Budgam 21.14%, Pulwama 3.79%, Shopian 1.24%, Kulgam 3.58% and Anantnag 16.28%.

In Jammu division, Kishtwar has recorded a voting percentage of 36.49%, Doda 43.52%, Ramban 36.39%, Reasi 26.61%, Kathua 35.37%, Samba 38.58%, Jammu 42.93%, Udhampur 28.65%, Rajouri 42.35% and Poonch 37.09% up to 11 am.

Kashmir division recorded a polling percentage of 14.87% and Jammu division has 37.88% voter turnout. Overall, 26.02% of voters have cast their votes up to 11 am.

Polling is being held from 7 am to 2 pm.

Out of the total 280 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir (14 in each of the 20 districts), 34 are going to polls in the third phase – 17 each in Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
