Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti was put under house arrest.
“I’ve been illegally detained yet again. Since two days, J&K admin has refused to allow me to visit Waheed Para’s family in Pulwama,” Mehbooba Mufti said in a tweet.
Para, the PDP youth leader, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday after two days of questioning in the DSP Davinder Singh and Hizbul Mujahideen commander Naveed Babu case.
He is scheduled to be produced before a court in Jammu on Friday.
“BJP Ministers & their puppets are allowed to move around in every corner of Kashmir but security is a problem only in my case. Their cruelty knows no bounds,” Mehbooba said.
She alleged that Para was arrested on “baseless charges” and she is not allowed to even console his family.
“Even my daughter Iltija has been placed under house arrest because she also wanted to visit Waheed’s family,” she said.
Iltija Mufti, Mehbooba’s daughter, told KNO that her mother has been put under house arrest on Friday morning as she was going to visit Waheed Para’s residence in Naira Pulwama.
“Is this what you call democracy where you don’t have any right to exercise your freedom of speech and expression. You are being threatened and intimidated for raising voice about anything,” Iltija was quoted having said by KNO.
Mehbooba said she is going to hold a press conference at 3:00 PM on Friday to brief the press on various issues. “Request media to kindly come.”
