Srinagar: Gulmarg and Pahalgam, the two famous tourist resorts in the north and south Kashmir respectively, recorded sub-zero temperatures during the night, the weatherman said on Thursday.
However, most places in the Valley recorded minimum temperatures above the normal for this time of the year.
Quoting a meteorological department official, GNS reported that mercury settled at 2.0 degrees Celsius at Srinagar against a normal of 0.1 degrees.
Regarding other places, the officials said that Qazigund recorded 2.0°C (2°C above normal), Pahalgam minus 0.7°C (1.7°C AN), Kupwara 0.2°C (0.7°C AN), Kokernag 1.1°C (0.6°C AN) and Gulmarg minus 3.5°C (1°C BN).
The weatherman has forecast mainly dry weather over the plains of J&K and Ladakh till at last December 2. For higher reaches of J&K, the weatherman has predicted “isolated very light rain/snow” in the next 24 hours. (GNS)
