Earlier this month, government authorities stormed the woods at several locations in Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district for ‘anti-encroachment’ drives. Continuing over a number of days, hutments belonging to Gujjar and Bakerwal families were demolished during the drive. We visited the affected families to get a first-hand account of the happening.
