Handwara: A minor boy from Mawer area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday attempted to end his life by consuming some poisonous substance at his home after being allegedly sexually harassed by a private school teacher, Kashmir News Service (KNS) reported.

Quoting family of the minor boy (name withheld), the news agency reported that he was sexually harassed by a school teacher for over a month and yesterday, he consumed some poisonous substances to get rid off from the abuse.

The family added soon after the incident, the boy was taken to the nearby hospital, but after his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to a Srinagar hospital for treatment where his condition is stated to be stable.

The family demanded strict action against the accused.
