Srinagar: The militants, one of them purportedly a top JeM commander, have managed to flee after a brief gunfight with a joint team of Police, CRPF and Army in Parigam area of Pulwama in south Kashmir on Thursday, officials said.
Quoting a senior police officer, Global News Service (GNS) reported that as per specific inputs two militants including a Jaish-e-Mohammed commander with an alias Lambo Bhai were trapped.
The officer said that the militants “seem to have fled soon after the gunfight broke out.” However, the searches in the area are still going on, he said.
The gunfight which lasted for a brief time had ensued after a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Parigam village on Thursday afternoon.
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off the brief gunfight. GNS
