Srinagar: The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Tuesday announced its seat-sharing arrangement for the third phase of the upcoming maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections.
The seat-sharing arrangement, in which the alliance has announced its participation from 16 more constituencies, was made public by PAGD spokesperson Sajad Lone on Twitter.
However, the actual names of the candidates are yet to be known.
According to the list, approved by the alliance president Dr Farooq Abdullah, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will fight from 8 constituencies while National Conference (NC) candidates will be fielded in 6 constituencies.
Peoples Conference (PC) and Awami National Conference (ANC) will field its candidates in one constituency each.
Earlier this month, the PAGD constituents decided to contest the DDC polls unitedly and have so far issued three lists of seat-sharing for the first three phases of the polls.
According to the first list, the alliance is fielding 27 candidates from three parties — 21 from National Conference (NC), 4 from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and 2 from Peoples Conference (PC).
According to the second list, PDP and NC will fight from 8 constituencies each while Congress from 3, PC from 5, JK Peoples Movement from 2 and Awami National Conference (ANC) from 1.
Pertinently, the first-ever elections for the DDCs will be held from November 28, in 8 phases, and will conclude on December 22.
The elections for the vacant seats of Sarpanchs and Panchs and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) will also be held simultaneously with the DDC Polls.
