Srinagar: The armies of India and Pakistan on Monday evening exchanged fresh gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Indian Army said that it was Pakistan that initiated the exchange.
“Pakistan fired mortars and other weapons this evening,” Col Rajesh Kalia, Army’s Srinagar-based spokesperson said in a statement. “Befitting response is being given.”
The incident comes just three days after five soldiers and four civilians were killed in cross-LoC shelling in north Kashmir. while Pakistan claimed that its one soldier and six civilians were killed in the firing by Indian Army.
