Srinagar: Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed while as one surrendered before forces during the ongoing gunfight in Meej area of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Awantipora on Friday.
Quoting official sources, Global News Service (GNS) reported that 2 militants were killed in the operation while as another surrendered.
However, the identity of the slain militants has not been established yet.
Inspector-General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, told reporters that 9 militants have surrendered before forces during live encounters this year.
IGP further said that forces will continue to offer local militants to surrender during live encounters.
The operation was halted Thursday late evening due to darkness. However, the operation was resumed on Friday with the break of dawn.
