Poonch: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have recovered 4 kilograms of “heroin-like substance” from Dhargloon area of Mendher in Poonch district.
Quoting a police official, Global News Service reported that a joint patrolling party of police along with SOG Mendher and Army’s 39 and 49 RR conducted search operation in Dhargloon area.
“During searches, approximately 4 kg heroin-like substance was recovered,” the official said, adding that a case (FIR No.89/20) under sections 8/21/22 NDPS has been lodged in police station Gursai.
“Investigation and search is continuing to probe its handlers and source,” the official added. “The area being near Line of Control and evidences suggests to its trans-border smuggling links.”
Confirming the recovery, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said the investigations are underway.
This is the fourth big recovery of narcotics in this border district of Poonch by police and army in last 20 days. GNS
