Srinagar: In a significant move, the Centre has announced amendments in land laws, paving the way for any Indian citizen to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh which hitherto was exclusively meant for the permanent resident of erstwhile J&K. Agricultural land, however, will be an exception.
The Ministry of Home Affairs’ Department of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Affairs in its gazette notification vide ID number CG-DL-E-26102020-222750 dated October 27 stated that the order will be called the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Adaptation of Central Laws) Third Order, 2020.
The order, it says, shall come into force with immediate effect.
