Shifa Hospital in Srinagar vandalised after ‘stable’ lady patient dies upon surgery

Srinagar: The agitated relatives and family members of a lady patient allegedly ransacked Shifa Hospital in Magarmal Bagh Srinagar.

“The angry relatives of the patient ransacked and damaged the hospital from top to bottom,” Dr Gulzar told Kashmir News Trust (KNT).

The relatives lost temper after the death of a lady who reportedly hails from Dandarkah area of Batamaloo Srinagar.

Reports said that the deceased, Dilshada Banoo, 45, a mother of three daughters, was admitted to the hospital last week after she developed complications due to chest infection.

“Doctors assured us that she is fine and stable. She died today after suffering from internal injuries when one Dr Bilal conducted a surgery,” one of the relatives of the deceased lady said.

“How can a doctor be so negligent while taking care of a stable patient,” he asked?

Dr Gulzar from Shifa Hospital said that the lady had developed pancreatic complications which can prove fatal sometimes. He alleged that angry relatives of the deceased lady damaged hospital property worth lakhs.

“I was terrified. Many people sustained injuries during the melee,” said an eyewitness.

Dr Gulzar said that even police was unable to curb the agitated locals. KNT
