Srinagar: Instead of taking action against some stone-pelters, paramilitary troopers thrashed a chicken-seller, crushed his chickens to death and broke his cell phone on Saidakadal-Rainawari stretch of Srinagar city.

The chicken-seller accused CRPF men of thrashing him without any reason. “Some youth pelted stones on them (CRPF) and in return, they pounced upon me, hit my head with gun butts, broke my cell phone and put some of my chickens to death,” the chicken seller told Kashmir News Trust (KNT).

“I have been running this chicken shop from the past 15 years and never indulged in an act that could go against the law. This time, I was targeted for none of my faults,” he said.

The chicken-seller whose video is also viral on social media said it is an irony that in a fit of rage, the troopers put some of his chickens to death.

“I talked to police and they assured action. After beating me, these CRPF men threatened me of dire consequences. Those who pelted stones fled away from the scene and these troopers targeted me while I was busy selling chickens,” he said.

Srinagar-based CRPF spokesperson, Pankaj Singh, told KNT that they will ascertain the facts. KNT
