Srinagar: After nearly 14 months of detention, former Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has been released, government said on Tuesday.
“Ms. Mehbooba Mufti being released,” government Rohit Kansal said in a tweet.
Sources said that she was released later.
Mehbooba was among hundreds of people detained in August 2019 to prevent protests against the Government of India’s move to divest J&K of its special status through the nullification of the constitution’s Article 370 and the division of the state into two union territories.
