Srinagar: A 45-year-old woman was among two killed and a CRPF officer injured in the ongoing gunfight in Batamaloo area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
Quoting a senior police officer, Global News Service reported that a lady, identified as Kounsar Riyaz of Batamaloo, received bullet wound during “cross-firing.” She was immediately shifted to Police hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
He further told that an unidentified militant has also been killed and a Deputy Commandant of CRPF also received bullet wound and was subsequently shifted to 92 Base Hospital for treatment.
Earlier, a joint team of Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Batamaloo.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter. GNS
