Two suspected militants from Shopian arrested at Jawahar Tunnel: Police

Qazigund: The security forces on Tuesday late evening arrested two ‘militants’ from Jawhar Tunnel area of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

“Based on a specific information, one truck bearing registration number JK22B-1737, which was coming from Jammu to Srinagar was intercepted by Police and Army near Jawhar Tunnel,” a police officer told the Kashmir News Observer.

The driver of the truck and a person travelling in it were detained, he said, adding that “after sustained interrogation they turned out to be militants” identified as Bilal Ahmad Kuttey, son of Ghulam Muhammad Kuttey and Shahnwaz Ahmad Mir, son of Zahoor Ahmad Mir, both residents of Chotipora Shopian.

“During the search, two AK-47 rifle and one box of IED were recovered from their possession,” he said. KNO
