Handwara: Police have arrested 5 drug-peddlers including a panch and recovered 80 grams of brown sugar and cash worth Rs 2,65,000 from their possession in North Kashmir’s Handwara town.
Quoting a police official, Kashmir News Trust reported that police, at a checkpoint at Badrah Payeen Kralgund, intercepted three persons. During frisking, 70 grams of brown sugar and Rs 2,65,000 in cash were recovered from their possession.
Police identified the arrested as Riyaz Ahmad Lone son of Sonaullah Lone, a resident of Badrah Payeen, and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Maratgam.
A formal FIR vide number 84/2020 under section 8/21, 29 NDPS Act was registered against the accused at Police Station Kralgund.
In another similar incident, three persons including a panch were arrested during a naka set up at Langate. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmed Dar son of Muhammad Maqbool Dar of Badrah Payeen, panch Feroz Ahmad Pandith son of Ali Muhammad Pandith and Asif Manzoor Mir son of Manzoor Ahmad Mir – both residents of Langate.
During the search, 30 grams of brown sugar were recovered from their possession.
