Pattan: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Yadipora area of Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday morning leaving an army major injured.
Quoting unnamed official sources, Kashmir News Observer reported that a joint team of Police, army’s 29 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Yadipora during last night.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants.
An army major of 29 RR was during the initial exchange of fire, officials said. He has been shifted to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for treatment.
As per sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped. KNO
