Anantnag: A self-styled faith healer has been arrested for allegedly raping two girls in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The accused, Ashraf Mir son of Ghulam Ahmed Mir, is a resident of Akingam village of Anantnag district.
Sources told Kashmir News Trust that a man from Tailwan Achabal village, Muhammad Maqbool Dar, lodged a complaint at Police Station Achabal alleging that a self-styled faith healer forcibly raped her two daughters.
He has mentioned in his complaint that his family used to visit the self-styled faith healer to get amulets and blessings from him. Now, it has dawned upon him that ‘Pir’ Ashraf Mir has forcibly tarnished the chastity of his two daughters.
Police arrested the self-styled faith-healer shortly after receiving the complaint. A police official confirmed that he has been taken into custody on rape charges. He said that a formal FIR vide number 68/2020 under section 376 has been registered at Police Station Achabal and investigation has been set into motion. KNT
