Sopore woman succumbs after attempting suicide, husband hospitalised

Kulgam: 16-year-old boy commits suicide

Sopore: A woman who sustained severe burn injuries yesterday succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital.

The woman had allegedly set herself ablaze at her home in Naseerabad area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.

Officials told Kashmir News Observer that a woman allegedly set herself ablaze by pouring kerosene oil over her body. They said her husband reportedly managed to douse the fire but both received severe burn injuries.

The couple was rushed to hospital wherefrom they were referred to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at SMHS hospital in Srinagar where she succumbed to her injuries today.

Meanwhile, Station House Officer (SHO) Sopore, Azim Khan, confirmed the woman’s death said they have registered an FIR and investigations are on to ascertain as to why the victim took the extreme step. KNO
